We’ve all been there, done that. The years of trying different diets with only the same result; gorging on that 200g chocolate bar and needing to start again! (Dark chocolate doesn’t count though, right?)
I have a solution for us all! Two words:
FYI THIS IS NOT A DIET.
Before I go into the details please answer the following questions honestly:
Do you eat with no distractions?
Do you enjoy what you are eating?
And finally, do you eat only when you are hungry?
Why am I asking these questions I hear you cry? In a world where we are constantly on the go, have we realised just how much we need to take a minute to slow down and just. be? Yes we have yoga, pilates and meditation, but no one has emphasized one of the main, and most important thing that keeps us going; food.
Hello ‘Mindful eating’, where one eats food to not just consume, but to enjoy each component.
This new way of thinking is taking 2019 by storm. Re- educating us on how our relationship with food should be. Getting out of the habit of checking those scales can be difficult, but increasing that body appreciation will give you a whole new lease of life.
– Only eat when you are hungry
– Enjoy what you are consuming
– Slow it down and recognize each flavour
– Know what you are fueling your body with
– Forget the scales
– Reduce eating with distractions
So when you are hungry, go and socialize with friends over a plate of Pad Thai, or Jimmy’s famous chili Bugs, but just promise me one thing – you will appreciate each bite and enjoy the burst of flavour it exudes.
Can mindful eating be any easier!
